The 40th Annual Peter Anderson Festival takes place November 3 & 4 along the streets of Downtown Ocean Springs. Artists, crafters and food vendors from all over the United States come together to create the largest arts festival in Mississippi and the Gulf Coast. In addition to delicious foods and wonderful arts & crafts, participants and festival goers always look forward to picking up the year's festival shirt.WLOX Gulf Coast Weekend sat down withMarjorie Anderson Ashley, daughter of Peter Anderson, and renowned painter and craftsman,Stig Marcussen, design creator of this year's shirt along with several other past Peter Anderson Festival shirts. We discussed the creative process involved in developing the 2018 Peter Anderson Festival shirt.

2018 FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

40th Annual Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival on November 3 & 4, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

DEMONSTRATIONS

The artists of the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival are proud to showcase their works to hundreds of thousands of spectators. Many of the artists will be creating quite a show at their booths during the festival by demonstrating their works.  Artists can be seen painting, sculpting and even firing up some pottery.

HANDS ON MARINE EDUCATION

Hands-on marine education area lead by the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory of the University of Southern Mississippi. Experience a variety of displays, artifacts, and hands-on activities with marine education.

NEW! YOUNG AT ART

Children's art market for those ages eight to 18. Young art entrepreneurs will exhibit their one of a kind items For purchase on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm on the grounds of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. Come shop with our young artists.

BLUE MOON ART PROJECT

Mississippi artists paint their interpretation of Blue Moon for a chance to win $2,000 and to be the symbol for Blue Moon's marketing surrounding the following year's festival. During the festival, one lucky winner will be chosen as the "People's Choice Award" receiving a monetary award, and you have a chance to pick the "People's Choice Award" winner.

VOTING

Top Ten Finalists of the Blue Moon Art Project Contest will be on display near the festival's Main Stage. Attendees are invited to view and VOTE for their favorite piece coining one lucky artist with the "People's Choice Award".  Both awards of project will be announced at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Music Stage.

NEW LINEUP! MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT

The Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival Main Stage filled with live musical entertainment will be located in the heart of the festival off Cash Alley and DeSoto Street next to the Food Court. Enjoy musical performances from local bands with a variety of styles.

GETTING TO THE FESTIVAL –RIDE AND WIN PRIZES!!!

It is highly recommended that you take advantage of the convenient and FREE park n' ride options made possible by Coast Transit Authority and the YMCA. Coast Transit Authority buses are ADA ready and include bike racks. Parking on private property or on the sides of the streets on Bienville Boulevard is not permitted.

PARK N' RIDE OPTIONS

FREE transportation to the entrances, thanks to the YMCA and Coast Transit Authority. The buses will pick up from Ocean Springs Upper Elementary and Oak Park Elementary off of Government Street/ Holcomb Blvd. Buses will also pick up from the Greyhound Stadium parking lot located off Government Street/Hanley Road.

Take Exit 57 off I-10, South to Bienville Blvd (Hwy 90), right (West) onto Bienville Blvd, left onto Holcomb Blvd. At first stop sign, elementary schools will be on left and right, south side of Government Street.

GREYHOUND STADIUM PARKING

  • Shuttles run every 15 minutes from 8:30 to 5:30 p.m. each day
  • Drop off locations are at Government Street entrance and Porter Avenue entrance

Directions: Take Exit 50 off I-10, South to Bienville Blvd (Hwy 90), left (East) onto Bienville Blvd, right onto Hanley Road (near Big Lots), stadium on left.
